Administrative
Division
| The Administrative Division
consists of the Civil Unit, Pistol Permits, clerical staff, Training
Unit, K-9 Units, D.A.R.E. Instructors and Deputy Sheriff School
Resource Officers. The Undersheriff oversees the day to day operations of the
Administrative Division.
All civil proceedings are handled in this division and are processed by two civil clerks. Civil process is served by all road patrol deputies as the work their shifts. This allows the road patrol deputies the chance to become more familiar with the people living in their patrol zones. The Secretary to the Sheriff, Administrative Services Clerk and Account Receivable Clerk handle the day to day bookkeeping and budget tracking. They help to run a tight financial ship and reduce the burden to county taxpayers. All New York State Pistol Permits that are issued to residents of Cattaraugus County are maintained by the Pistol Permit Clerk. Background investigations are completed and records kept on all pistols registered in our county. The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office actively pursues grant monies from various sources in an attempt to reduce the financial burden of law enforcement on the taxpayers of Cattaraugus County. Cindy Lauer is our grant writer and administers grants in excess of $850,000.00 that the department has been awarded from various sources. These grants have allowed us to add personnel and equipment that was badly needed, as well as initiate programs in Community Policing and Domestic Violence Intervention. |
