Evidence / Property Section

Each year, the evidence/property sections receives, records, and tracks hundreds of items. These items can range from guns used in homicides to recovered stolen bicycles to lost wallets. Sgt. Bruce Bryant is in charge of the unit and maintains the chain of custody on all evidence and property. The Sheriff's Office utilizes as fenced impound yard and secure garage in addition to a large room and walk-in safe to store the enormous number of items.
Sgt. Bryant is also the Evidence Technician for the Sheriff's Office. He has received specialized training in new and progressive concepts in evidence detection and collection. The department purchased and totally equipped a Chevrolet Tahoe for use as a crime scene unit. The unit was purchased with forfeited drug monies and includes a specialized lighting equipment, evidence collection containers, latent fingerprint supplies, safety equipment, photographic equipment, and other items necessary for the collection of evidence. Sgt. Bryant has extensive training in the field of fingerprint analysis and comparison, and has been used by our agency as well as several surrounding agencies in fingerprint cases.
